Fantasy


 Occasionally, I buy one lottery ticket, and than I don't check whether I won for days, weeks and sometimes even for months. I do this on purpose because then, I can spend all the time  fantasizing of what I would do with all the winnings - - the mega millions that suddenly will fall into my lap.

First, I would get a good financial planer and a trustworthy lawyer to guide me and protect me from unscrupulous solicitors and relatives that I didn't even know I had.

Then, my fantasy would start:

1.  I would gather my children and their families and take them on a fantasy trip on every continent of the world.  Whatever their wish would be we would do.

2. I would buy a vacation home large enough for the whole family. The location would be decided by my children so that they could go there whenever they want to.

3. I would completely remodel my home, or maybe buy a new home that would have everything in it that I always dreamed to have.

4. I am not going to forget my brother and sister in Serbia, either, nor will I forget the people who were good to me throughout my life. I would share some of my wealth with them.

5. Next, I would do all the things I always wanted to do: go on a safari, visit the Amazon and the Mato Grosso, trek trough China, visit Japan, Australia and the Barrier Reefs, visit the Arctic and the Antarctic, and than charter a sailboat and visit the islands of Micronesia. I will hike, scuba dive, fly and sail and try all types of challenging activities.

6. Finally, I would settle down in my new home and do a lot of volunteer work for people less fortunate than me.

Last night, I bought a one lottery ticket; the drawing will be Saturday.

Mid Carolina Run Shop Hop 2012

As I was visiting my family in North Carolina I came across an ad for this shop hop. Although, my Daughter-in-Law is not a quilter, I mentioned this shop hop to her and we got really enthused about the adventure. What is a "shop-hop"?  It is visiting participating quilt shops and collecting a free fabric piece or pattern samples from each shop. Once all the patterns are collected a quilt can be made. In these shops in addition to the patterns they gave away regional recipes as well. There were only seven shops in this group, but it took us a whole day to visit each and every one of them. We had a wonderful time together and it was a beautiful day to travel.   Here are the  quilts made from the blocks given away by the stores. Each store choose their own fabrics and added their creativity while assembling the quilts.

Blessings

Reflect upon your present blessings of which every man has many - not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some ”    Charles Dickens Today, I have one of those days when I am thinking of the many blessings in my life. As I was reflecting I found that most of my blessings are not really from the material things I worked for so hard for 35 years, but all my blessings come from family, friends and the simple things in life. I am blessed for - My children for becoming independent and self sufficient at an early age of 18. I have a happy smile when I see the family they have created on their own and what a wonderful job they are doing in raising their children.    My parents for giving me all the love, care and good values in spite of them suffering through the hardships of wars.   My brother and sister for sharing the childhood we had. My birth place, Novi Sad Serbia

I was born in Novi Sad in 1941 in a lovely house on the shores of Danube River,  today Liman I. Most of my early memories are associated with the river and the Strand (the Novi Sad beach). Today, the university campus is on the location where our neighborhood used to be. The campus was created in the late 1950's and early 1960's, and to create it, our house along with all of our neighbors homes were taken away. Some families, including ours, were never compensated for the the loss. Here are a few pictures of me on the Danube that my father took in the summer of 1943. I have no pictures of the house in Novi Sad At the time of my birth my father, Karoly Wissinger, (Karlo Visinger, in Serbian) was working on the interior designs of the Banovina building.
